Setting Up Security Questions

Purdue Fort Wayne Information Technology Services has implemented a centralized platform to manage your password and search for a forgotten username.  The system requires you to follow some first-time set-up instructions before password management is allowed.

To set things up:

  1. In a browser, go to goPFW login screen.
    1. If you are logged in, you will need to log out and then go to goPFW.
  2. Click Change Password on the bottom of the screen.
    1. You will be redirected to the Self-Service Password Reset Portal.
    2. The answers are case sensitive.
    3. Answers must be at least 8 characters long.
    4. Passwords must have at least 3 types of the following characters:
      1. Uppercase (A-Z)
      2. Lowercase (a-z)
      3. Number (0-9)
      4. Symbol (!, #, $ etc..)
      5. Other language characters not listed above.
    5. New password may not have been used previously.
  3. Type in your credentials and log in.
  4. You will then be asked to choose and answer security questions.
    1. Do not choose questions and answers that would be easy to guess.
    2. Tip: To see what you have entered, click the eye next to what you have filled in.
  5. Click Save Answers.
  6. After this is completed, a screen will come up with 2 additional security questions for the IT Services Help Desk's use in case there is an issue that would require them to verify your identity.
    1. Fill these questions in.
  7. Click Save Answers.
  8. A screen will come up to verify your answers have been saved.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. This will bring up the main password portal page where you have several options such as changing your password and viewing or modifying your security questions.
