How to use the integration between Microsoft Teams and TeamDynamix

Overview

Recently, TeamDynamix has been integrated with Microsoft Teams.  This article includes instructions for turning on the integration and its intended uses.

Instructions

As a TeamDynamix technician, you are able to add the TDX extension to Teams so that you may provide a quick reference to tickets, KB articles, assets, projects and more within a chat message or Team channel.

To take advantage of the TDX to Teams integration, follow these steps:

  1. From your Teams window, select the Apps button in the left menu.
  2. Search for, and select TDX.
  3. TDX will send you a chat card asking you to "Register with TeamDynamix" by using the Sign In button to associate your TDX account with Teams.

  4. You will receive a message that your Teams account has been successfully associated with your TDX account, as shown above.

Once Teams and TDX are associated, you may use the plus sign "+" in the "Type a message" box of a chat to search tickets, articles, assets and more from TDX to provide a short cut to the chat recipients.  Because the integration is based on your registration, you will only be able to search for items that you have permission to view.  Once you find a work item that you want to discuss, click on it to add it to your message. You can add additional comments or @ mention someone in your comment to notify them via Teams. When your message is complete, send it to the chat or channel, and a Teams card will display information from TeamDynamix.

Within the card, you can click on the View button or linked details such as the Requestor or Location to view the details of the item in TeamDynamix. You can also click on the Comment button on most cards to add a comment directly to that item's Feed. Commenting in this way will record your comments in the Feed but it will not let you notify others--to notify people or perform a full update, use the View button to view the full details in TeamDynamix.
