Knowledge Base: Purdue IT Knowledge Base permissions and access

Overview

All Purdue IT employees who have access to the Team Dynamics portal also have access to the Purdue IT knowledge base.

  • All Purdue IT technicians have the ability to view articles regardless of status (except those that are marked internal to a specific TDNext team or group); they should be aware that Internal articles, and articles in a "Submitted" or "Not Submitted" status are not visible in the public knowledge base and can not be shared with non-Purdue IT users.
  • Any Purdue IT technician can request "KB Candidate" access by completing a short Success Factors course that explains the goals of the Knowledge Base. This allows them to begin creating articles and submitting them to their team lead for approval and eventual publication in the knowledge base.
  • KB Contributor status gives the user the ability to edit their team's articles, create and review articles, approve their own and their team member's articles, and publish internal articles. They can approve articles for publication in the Purdue IT knowledge base. To request this level of access, uses should complete the course for KB Candidates and then complete the steps found in this article: Internal Purdue IT: Knowledge Base instructions for users seeking KB Contributor/Team Lead access which is intended to walk users through creating a KB article to Purdue IT's standards.
  • KB Publishers have all of the access listed above, but also the ability to publish to the public knowledge base. This permission is granted after the user, in a KB Contributor role, has approved 10 articles for publication to the public knowledge base.
