Install SAP GUI with Secure Login Client

SAP GUI with Secure Client must be manually installed.  Users should not have to uninstall the current SAP GUI installation.
Note: Users must be connected to the VPN to download and install software
Note: A restart is not required after install, but it is recommended.

  1. Go to the Company Portal
     
  2. Look for “Central SAPgui 8.0 Patch 4 with Secure Login Client” and click it to open

  3. Click “Install”

  4. Once installed, the button should change to “Uninstall” and the Secure Login Client should show in your Taskbar.
    Note: You may need to show your applications in the taskbar by clicking the up arrow

  5. If the installation fails, try to install the application again.  If the installation continues to fail, open a ticket with ESS by emailing it@purdue.edu with the pertinent information.

Refesh Policy Group & Set as Favorite

After installing SAP GUI with Secure Login Client, the Groups Policy Host may need to be updated.
Note: This should only need to be done once after the initial install.

  1. Right-click on the SAP Secure Login Client in the Taskbar and choose “Show”

  2. Go to File – Options
     
  3. Click on “Policy Groups” tab
     
  4. Click “Refresh”
     
  5. Select “SAP Secure Login Service for SAP GUI” in the Group

  6. Ensure that the Status is “OK”.  If the status is blank, refresh again and ensure that “SAP Secure Login Service for SAP GUI” is selected as the group.

  7. Click OK
     
  8. The secure client profile will now be visible. Right-click on the secure client profile and select “Use profile for SAP Applications”

    Note: If the secure profile does not show up after refreshing the policy host, restart workstation and refresh the policy host again.
     
  9. Once selected, the secure client profile should have a gold star in it. The secure client is now ready to use.
     

Authenticate to the SAP Secure Login Client

The first connection after Windows/Mac OS login will require the user to authenticate.

Note: User authentication is not needed again for 12 hours or until the user logs out of Windows/Mac OS

To authenticate before the login process:

  1. Open the SAP Secure Login Client
     
  2. Double-Click on the “SAP-SECURE-LOGIN-SERVICE-FOR-SAP-GUI” profile

  3. Complete the DUO authentication

  4. Once authenticated, the checkmark background in the secure client profile should change from white to yellow.

  5. Users can now access SAP instance without further login until logging out of Windows/Mac OS or 12 hours pass.
