Overview

The document describes the features and settings of three types of Listservs: open discussion list, moderated list, and announcement list. Each type of list has different options for subscription, confidentiality, validation, reply-to, notify, auto-delete, review, send, owner, moderator, and editor, which are explained with examples in the document.

Instructions

  • Open Discussion List 

  • Subscription= Open,Confirm 

  • Confidential= Yes 

  • Default-Options= Repro,Noack 

  • Validate= Yes,Confirm 

  • Reply-to= List,Respect 

  • Notify= Yes 

  • Auto-Delete= Yes,Semi-Auto 

  • Review= Owners 

  • Send= Private 

  • Owner= melissa@pfw.edu 

  • Owner= mary@pfw.edu 

  • In the above list, those subscribed to the list can freely post without intervention. Melissa and Mary co-own the list--both have access to subscribe and unsubscribe people. Because subscription is open, anyone can subscribe themselves to the list. 

  •   

  • Moderated List 

  • In the above list, Pam and Eric co-own the list with rights to subscribe and unsubscribe people. Because subscription is open, anyone can subscribe themself to the list. If a subscriber sends mail to the list, either Sarah, Andy or Jacob would need to approve the post (they each receive 1/3 of the mail for moderator approval). Jan, Han, Joe and Carrie all have the ability to send mail to the list without needing approval from Sarah, Andy or Jacob.
