The H drive at Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW) is a network storage space provided to students, faculty, and staff. It allows you to store and access your files from any computer connected to the PFW network. This can be particularly useful for saving important documents, projects, and coursework, ensuring they are backed up and accessible from different locations on campus.

To save a file on the H Drive at PFW, follow these steps:

  1. Connect to the PFW Network: Make sure you are connected to the PFW network, either on campus or through a VPN if you are off-campus.
  2. Access the H Drive:
    • On a Windows computer, open File Explorer and look for the H Drive under “This PC” or “Network Locations”.
      • You will see another drives, (ex. O Drive, I Drive).
    • On a Mac, you can connect to the H Drive using the Finder by selecting “Go” > “Connect to Server” and entering the server address provided by PFW IT services.
  3. Save Your File:
    • Open the file you want to save
    • Select File > Save As.
    • Navigate to the H Drive (This PC) in the save dialog box.
    • Choose the folder where you want to save the file, enter a file name, and click Save.        
  4. Verify the Save: Check the H Drive to ensure your file has been saved correctly.

To download a file from the H Drive at PFW, follow these steps:

On-Campus

  1. Connect to the PFW Network: Ensure you are connected to the campus network.
  2. Access the H Drive:
    • Windows: Open File Explorer and locate the H Drive under “This PC” or “Network Locations”.
    • Mac: Open Finder, select “Go” > “Connect to Server”, and enter the server address provided by PFW IT services.
  3. Download the File:
    • Navigate to the file you want to download.
    • Right-click the file and select Copy.
    • Paste the file to your local drive or desired location on your computer.

Off-Campus

  1. Download the File:
    • Navigate to the file you want to download.
    • Right-click the file and select Copy.
    • Paste the file to your local drive or desired location on your computer.

Note: You will still be able to download the H Drive either if you are on-campus or off-campus.
