Ag - How do I add a network location on my Purdue-managed or Personal Windows 11 computer?

Overview

If you need to map a network share to your device whether it be on a managed or personal Windows 11 device, this KB will walk you through the steps you will need to follow to create a network location to access these network shares. 

 

Prerequisites

Purdue-managed device - The device must be either hard-wired to the domain, connected to PAL 3.0/CES, or connected to the VPN before starting.

Personal device – The device must be on PAL 3.0 or connected to the VPN before starting.

Network locations – You can reference this KB for network locations accessible to Ag users. These will only be accessible if you have the proper permissions to access these paths.

Instructions

  • Open File Explorer

  • Select Computer <Your Computer Name>/ This PC from the Left Pane > Click the ellipsis (...) and select Add a network location

  • Click Next

Click next at the add location Wizard

  • Select Choose a custom network location and click Next

  • Type the desired path in the Internet or network address field and click Next

NOTE: On personal devices, you must enter your Purdue credentials as shown in the screenshot below. Make sure to check the box to the left of Remember my credentials before clicking OK

  • Type the desired name for the network location and click Next

  • Click Finish

  • The Network Location added will show up as a folder with the name that was chosen below Computer <Your Computer Name>/This PC on the left Pane.
