Ag - How Do I Create a Shortcut to an Ag Network Location on a Windows 10/11 Computer?

Overview

These steps will help walk you through creating a shortcut on your desktop that points to a network location on the Purdue domain

Prerequisites

Purdue-managed device - The device must be either hard-wired to the domain, connected to PAL 3.0, or connected to the VPN before starting.

Personal device – The device must be on PAL 3.0 or connected to the VPN before starting.

Network locations – You can reference this KB for network locations accessible to Ag users. These will only be accessible if you have the proper permissions to access these paths.

Instructions

  • Right-click on your Desktop > click on New > click on Shortcut

  • Enter the network location you would like to create a shortcut for under Type the location of the item and click Next

NOTE: If you are attempting this on a personal device, you will need to authenticate access to the network location with your Purdue Login. For the username field, you will need to type in boilerad\ before your username. Make sure that after you type in your credentials you check the box next to Remember my credentials before clicking OK. You can reference the screenshot below

  • Type a desired shortcut name under Type a name for this shortcut and click Finish

  • The network shortcut will appear on your desktop​​​​​​​ with the chosen name
    • NOTE: You can create or move the shortcut to a folder of your choosing if you do not wish it to be on your desktop
