Weekly Reboot Exception Process

Overview

Purdue IT now offers a reboot exception form to request your Purdue IT managed Windows OS desktops and laptops be excluded from automatic reboots caused by application installs and/or Microsoft updates for seven days.

Access the form here: Weekly Reboot Exception Request

Details

About the reboot exception process:

  • You can exclude a device from reboots for a maximum of 14 consecutive days (two consecutive requests).
  • You will be asked to provide justification for the reboot and the request will automatically be approved.
  • If an exception is requested for a third consecutive week, Purdue IT staff will manually review the request to determine if the system can be exempted from reboots for another seven days.

NOTE: Purdue IT reserves the right to reboot systems to resolve critical vulnerabilities with the operating system or applications. The justification provided will help determine if the device can be exempted from required reboots to address vulnerabilities.
