Ag - Remote Into a Managed Windows PC from a Personal or Managed Windows PC

Overview

These are step-by-step instructions on how to remote into a managed Windows device from a personal or managed Windows PC.

Prerequisites

  1. Have remote access to the device you want to remote into. If you do not have remote access, you can submit a request here
  2. Open and connect to Cisco Secure Client on the Ag VPN. This app will be installed on managed devices. For personal devices, you can click on this link for instructions on how to install and connect
  3. The computer you are trying to remote into will need to be on and connected to the Purdue domain
  4. You will need to have signed into the computer you are trying to remote into at least once
  5. The name or IP address of the computer you want to remote into

Instructions

  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection

  2. Click Show Options.

  3. In the Computer field, type the computer name followed by .boilerad.purdue.edu or the IP address of the computer you want to remote into
  4. Under the User name field, type boilerad\ followed by your username
  5. Click Connect

  6. Enter your career account password and make sure to check the box next to Remember me
  7. Click OK

Ending Remote Session

  1. When you are done with your remote session, you can sign out of the device you are remoted into or you can click Close (X) on the blue banner at the top middle section of your screen to terminate it.
    NOTE: The banner may auto-hide. If this is the case, you can have it be persistent by pinning it (icon on the left of the banner that looks like a push pin). To have the banner re-appear, place and hold the cursor at the top middle of the screen.
