I’m a new employee at Purdue; how do I get started with university technology?

Overview

Purdue Information Technology is the central information technology organization serving students, faculty and staff at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Purdue Fort Wayne and Purdue Northwest.   

The information on this page is designed to help new employees on the West Lafayette campus get started with many of the processes and resources available to you as a new employee. However, this page is not all encompassing – factors such as department, organization, and role may determine what technology is available to you.  

The links below are designed to help answer basic questions about common tools and services. For questions about specific hardware or software, you should contact your business office as they’ll be better able to answer your questions.

Getting Started:  

Sometime after you have completed the New Hire Date Collection process and typically before your start date, a system generated email from SuccessFactors will be delivered to your personal email address.  

The system generated email will include your Username and PUID. This information is required to complete your account activation process to access Purdue systems by visiting https://purdue.edu/hr/neo/welcome.php. This HR process should help walk you through account creating, including setting up Duo two-factor authentication for Purdue Login. 

Career account:  

Your career account will give you electronic access to your @purdue.edu email account and other electronic services. This account is created when you are hired by Purdue and is yours to use for as long as you are affiliated with Purdue.

Setting up Duo Authentication with Purdue Login 

Microsoft multi-factor authentication (MFA)is required to access most Purdue online resources.  Using a smart phone and the Duo Mobile App is the most common authentication method, but users without access to a phone can request

Accessing Purdue email 

After you’ve set up your Purdue career account and password, you can log in to your Purdue email by visiting https://outlook.office.com/mail/. Your email address is your career account alias followed by @purdue.edu (i.e. alias@purdue.edu).

Access to hardware is role and organization dependent and you should talk with your manager/business office to find out specifics about access.
